On ne trouvera ici que quelques indications générales sur la façon de s’adresser à quelqu’un et de parler de quelqu’un en utilisant son titre. Lorsqu’en français on dit simplement bonjour, en anglais on précise souvent good morning, Paul ou good morning, Anne etc. De même, au début d’une lettre, un anglophone écrira facilement Dear Anne, Dear Paul etc., bien avant que le Français n’en vienne à utiliser le prénom.Les mots Madam et Sir ne sont utilisés que par les vendeurs des magasins, les employés de restaurants, d’hôtels etc. Ils sont toujours utilisés sans le nom propre:bonjour, madame= good morning, Madambonne nuit, monsieur= good night, SirEn anglais, le titre de doctor est utilisé pour les docteurs de toutes disciplines.
